The UK’s Anti-Corruption Minister, Tulip Siddiq, has resigned following allegations of corruption tied to properties connected to her aunt, Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
In a resignation letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Siddiq stated that she had not violated any ministerial laws but believed that remaining in her position could hinder the government’s work.
This resignation represents a significant blow to Keir Starmer’s government, especially as it comes just two months after the resignation of Transport Minister Louise Haigh at the end of last year. The incident also raises questions about the standards of integrity and transparency within the British government.
