A Palestinian young man reported that he managed to reach the location where the leader of Hamas, Yahya Al-Sinwar, was killed following a fierce clash with the Israeli army in Gaza. The young man announced that he had discovered Al-Sinwar’s “military pouch” among the rubble of the house that was bombed in Tel Al-Sultan, within Badr Camp. The pouch reportedly contained military equipment and tools believed to have been in his possession during the confrontation.
The young man also stated that the couch on which Al-Sinwar is believed to have been sitting during his final moments was retrieved from beneath the wreckage of the house, which was completely destroyed by the Israeli army along with the surrounding residential area.
The Hamas leader was killed on October 16, 2024, during an armed exchange with Israeli forces in the city of Rafah, in southern Gaza, after his location was accidentally discovered by Israeli soldiers.
Despite the implementation of a prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas last Sunday, Israel continues to refuse to hand over Al-Sinwar’s body to the movement. This is part of a longstanding Israeli policy of withholding the bodies of resistance leaders as leverage for future negotiations.
The decision has sparked widespread anger among Palestinians, as the return of bodies is considered a fundamental humanitarian and ethical issue, emphasizing respect for human dignity even in times of conflict.
