The Israeli website “Walla” has reported that a US-based security company is set to arrive in Israel shortly to conduct security inspections of individuals returning to northern Gaza via the “Netzarim” crossing. This mission aims to prevent the infiltration of militants and the smuggling of weapons into the northern region of the territory.
According to the report, the company will begin its first trial operations next week. It will deploy approximately 100 security personnel, most of whom are American nationals, with a few Arabic-speaking members included in the team.
The report also noted that representatives of the company are already present in Israel, working to set up a control center at the Netzarim crossing. This effort is being conducted under the supervision of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), who will oversee the company’s entry and monitor its operations in the area.
The security company includes highly experienced personnel, such as veterans of US elite military units and former members of the CIA.
This initiative is part of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which came into effect on Sunday, January 19, following mediation by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. The ceasefire agreement outlines a truce lasting 42 days, divided into three main phases:
- The first phase, lasting six weeks, involves the exchange of 33 Israeli prisoners (women, children, the elderly, and the sick) for a number of Palestinian detainees.
- The gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
This security operation is designed to ensure stability in the evacuated areas while minimizing the risk of renewed hostilities or arms smuggling into northern Gaza.
