The National Union of Mauritanian Students organized a protest stand in front of the Ministry of Higher Education to denounce the outcomes of the last meeting of the National Scholarship Committee and the unjust criteria adopted, calling for their revision to ensure benefits for a greater number of students and to end their exclusion from representation in the committee. The speakers emphasized the necessity to fulfill broad demands such as providing free health insurance for students, reinstating social assistance, updating curriculums, improving transportation and university dining services, and expanding university housing. They also condemned nepotism and favoritism in higher education and called for the opening of foreign scholarships to those who deserve them and for activating student representation in university decisions.
