Mohamed Yaslem Ould Abdallah, President of the Ethar Association for Cancer Patients, announced the association’s success in collecting more than 535 million old ouguiya during recent donation campaigns inside and outside Mauritania. The largest amount of donations, 271 million ouguiyas, was collected from Mauritanian communities in Africa, while the “We Are Enkdu” campaign during the month of Ramadan resulted in the collection of 245 million ouguiyas. Since its founding three years ago, the association has collected a total of more than 1.1 billion old ouguiyas, of which it has spent 993 million old ouguiyas to date.

The association's president borne the costs of all donation campaign trips in Africa, in addition to the costs of the affiliation trip to the city of Zouerate, which demonstrates his personal commitment to the association's goals. He also provided details on the geographical distribution of donations and showed how Mauritanian communities in different countries interacted with the association’s campaigns, noting the great support he found in Angola, where donations exceeded 73 million old ouguiyas.

During the press conference, Ould Abdallah stressed the association’s transparency in dealing with financial resources, explaining that the association works hard to ensure the optimal use of donations in achieving its mission of supporting cancer patients. He pointed out that the funds collected during the past three years have contributed significantly to enhancing the association’s capabilities to provide the necessary support to patients, especially in covering the costs of treatment and medical care.

He also pointed out that the association plans to expand the scope of its programs next year, based on the success achieved by the donation campaigns and the positive response from the Mauritanian community and communities abroad. Ould Abdellah hopes that the strong support will continue and that the association will be able to launch new initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for cancer patients in Mauritania and neighboring regions.
