The White House on Friday shared a photo on its official social media accounts showing undocumented migrants in chains, preparing to be deported from the United States.
In a message posted on the platform “X,” President Donald Trump’s administration announced the arrest of 538 undocumented migrants on Thursday, describing it as the beginning of the “largest deportation operation in American history.”
Among those detained was Magdaleno Zenen Hernandez Garcia, who had previously been convicted of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14.
According to Fox News, in a 33-hour period between midnight on January 21 and 9 a.m. on January 22, the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested more than 460 undocumented migrants, most of whom had a criminal history.
The arrested individuals came from a wide range of countries, including Afghanistan, Angola, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Senegal, and Venezuela.
The arrests took place across multiple U.S. states, including Illinois, Utah, California, Minnesota, New York, Florida, and Maryland.
Additionally, ICE issued more than 420 arrest warrants for individuals accused of serious crimes, including murder, sexual assault, kidnapping, battery, and burglary.
