His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs and Original Education, Mr. Sidi Yahya Cheikhna El Mourabit, received on Wednesday evening, in his office in Nouakchott, a delegation from the Supreme Council of Imams, Mosques, and Islamic Affairs of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, headed by the council’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Daouda Koné.
During the meeting, the minister highlighted the strong fraternal relations between the two countries, nurtured by their respective leaders, His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani and His Excellency President Alassane Ouattara. He also emphasized that these ties have significantly contributed to strengthening the fruitful cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
Following the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Original Education and Côte d’Ivoire’s Supreme Council of Imams, Mosques, and Islamic Affairs. This memorandum aims to enhance cooperation between the two sides in several key areas, including:
- Mosque management.
- Organization of Quranic competitions.
- Higher education and Islamic affairs.
- Exchange of scientific missions, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
This agreement reflects the commitment of both parties to strengthen collaboration in the religious and educational fields while consolidating the fraternal ties between the two nations to serve their common interests.
