Ms. Tout Bent Hamed, Chairwoman of the Preparatory Committee for the fifth congress of the women’s organization of the National Rally for Reform and Development (“Tawassoul”), stated that this congress, held under the slogan “Facing Challenges and Strengthening Achievements,” reflects the significant progress made by women in the party and their vital role in societal development.
The party’s president, Mr. Hamadi Ould Sidi Mokhtar, emphasized that women in the party embody its Islamic values, striking a balance between religious commitment and the demands of modern reality. He expressed his pride in the women of the party, whose contributions are evident everywhere, representing national unity through a rich diversity of languages, regions, and cultures.
Mr. Ould Sidi Mokhtar pointed out that the women’s organization has surpassed the party itself in terms of timeline progress, demonstrating the exemplary leadership of “Tawassoul” women in consolidating achievements. However, he also highlighted the significant challenges they face, including difficult living conditions, widespread unemployment, and the lack of targeted support and development programs. These obstacles exacerbate women’s vulnerability, making them more susceptible to precarious situations.
He further noted that women’s participation in high-ranking positions remains below expectations, both in quantity and quality, despite the presence of many highly qualified women. In conclusion, Mr. Ould Sidi Mokhtar urged the government to assume its responsibilities by adopting effective policies and development programs to support women, stressing that their role is crucial in driving national efforts towards comprehensive and inclusive development.
