Sources told The Jerusalem Post that an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza, along with a hostage exchange deal, could be announced today, Tuesday, unless unexpected last-minute developments occur.
A meeting is currently taking place in Doha, Qatar, to finalize the details of the agreement. According to an informed source, a three-phase plan has been devised for the release of hostages held by Hamas, pending an official response from the group.
The newspaper reported that the agreement became possible following a “breakthrough” in negotiations that involved teams representing both current U.S. President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump.
A source familiar with the draft stated, “The next 24 hours will be critical to finalizing the agreement.”
An Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post that “the framework of the hostage deal is clear, and Israel has made significant progress.” He added, “We are moving forward slowly and cautiously, hoping Hamas will cease its reluctance.”
