France has withdrawn its Mirage 2000-D fighter jets from its base in N'Djamena, Chad, marking the beginning of its military pullout from the African nation, according to the French military. Negotiations are ongoing with Chadian authorities to determine the timeline for withdrawing the remaining 1,000 troops and whether the withdrawal will be complete or partial.

The Chadian government described the termination of the defense cooperation agreement with France as a historic turning point, enabling the country to redefine its strategic partnership in line with its national priorities. Chad had been one of the last strongholds of significant French military presence in the region, following France's withdrawal from Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso in recent years.
