Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Kabylie in Algeria

Ferhat Mehenni, president of the Movement for the Autonomy of Kabylie (MAK), announced the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Kabylie in front of the United Nations headquarters in the United States, with Tizi Ouzou as its capital. This declaration comes as a response to years of persecution and repression by the Algerian regime against the Kabyle people. During the announcement, the national flags of the republic were raised and the national anthem was sung, and Mehenni requested the support and backing of global nations for this new republic. He also revealed that the republic now has a representative at the United Nations tasked with reporting on the critical humanitarian situation in Kabylie. Coinciding with "Tafsut Imazighen" on April 20th, thousands took to the streets in various parts of the republic in protest, facing suppression and arrests by Algerian authorities.
