The National Manufacturing Strategy in Mauritania

The Minister of Commerce, Industry, Traditional Crafts, and Tourism, Mr. Lemrabott Ould Benahi, confirmed that the national manufacturing strategy falls within the program of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, focusing on developing the manufacturing industries in areas where the country has preferential advantages, such as agriculture, animal wealth, fishing, and renewable energies. During the first meeting of the Supreme Council for Manufacturing, attended by the Swiss Ambassador and a representative from the French Embassy, a national strategy for manufacturing was reviewed. This includes the establishment of a Supreme Council for Manufacturing and a technical committee to prepare and evaluate manufacturing plans. The strategy comprises seven main programs focusing on valorizing industrial capacities across various sectors, including the development of pharmaceutical industries and the digital economy. The minister highlighted that the prospects for manufacturing are promising, especially in the field of animal development, emphasizing the need for specific measures to facilitate manufacturing and improve meat production and quality.
