Italian Defense Minister: Respecting International Law May Require Arresting Netanyahu and Galant

Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto stated that Italy might be obligated to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant if they visit Italy, in adherence to international law. However, he described the International Criminal Court's decision as "wrong."

Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that Italy would review the content and reasons behind the ICC’s decision, emphasizing the need to distinguish between legal and political aspects. Tajani also referred to Hamas as a terrorist organization and called for a careful evaluation in coordination with Italy's allies.

This follows the ICC's issuance of arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Galant, a decision binding on over 100 countries but raising questions about its enforcement amid complex international relations.
