Statement of the Progressive People's Alliance Party
The regime committed an act of high treason on March 7th.
In an atmosphere of stubbornness and confusion, the current regime, as expected on March 7th, committed an act of high treason by signing with the European Union (which, incidentally, granted it the status of its best national and international advisor) a humiliating agreement that will facilitate the reception, accommodation, and settlement of an unlimited number of migrants and asylum seekers, completely ignoring the state of total and unprecedented rejection expressed by our people across all its components and orientations. This agreement represents an inconceivable step as it symbolizes a betrayal and a simple relinquishment of the state's sovereignty, its independence, and its territorial integrity, thus posing the most serious threat to its public security.
The fervent desire of the President of the Republic to preempt Europeans and the West in general in their attempt to impose their will and views on the rest of the world renders his oath as President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and guarantor of the state's sovereignty, independence, and security void and null. He becomes, in effect, devoid of all qualities of legitimacy, eligibility, and credibility that bestow upon him authority over the people, who are the true bearers of sovereignty.
It's completely ludicrous to be in a country facing huge difficulties in providing acceptable living conditions for a population not exceeding four million people, while the authorities' unhealthy concerns prevent a significant number of native Mauritanians from acquiring citizenship, yet the country is handed over, bound hand and foot, to vast groups of stateless individuals unwanted in Europe. This will undoubtedly exacerbate the prevailing state of insecurity, further aggravated by the guarantees of rights imposed by the European Union as part of the services it will provide to them, without it striving to enforce them in its own countries or worrying about whether these required guarantees for the new settlers are indeed available for the native population or not.
The Progressive Popular Alliance Party, committed to its political line of continuously working for unity, stability, and civil peace, and adopting a method of peaceful political struggle to achieve rights and prevent harm:
Firmly rejects this agreement, the dangerousness of which is evident even to the uninitiated, because of the risk it poses to the country's demography, the Islamic religion (which is currently the religion of all Mauritanians), our moral and cultural values. This agreement will turn Mauritania into a dumping ground for Europe and reduce its authority to that of a mere night watchman, not to say a slave.
Renews its fervent call to the Mauritanian people, in all its living forces, including deputies, political parties, unions, civil society organizations, scholars, and opinion leaders, to stand firm and united in defense of the nation and to thwart this malicious conspiracy, so that Mauritania may live united and cohesive.
