Israel Destroys Syrian Military Fleet

Israel conducted a major military operation targeting the Syrian fleet stationed at the port of Latakia, resulting in the destruction of several ships equipped with anti-ship missiles. This move aims to prevent their use by the new Syrian regime or rebel groups in the future. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the success of the operation, stating that the Israeli navy completely destroyed the Syrian fleet during nighttime strikes.

Additionally, Israeli air forces targeted Mezzeh Military Airport, located southwest of Damascus, one of Syria’s key military sites, according to Al Jazeera. These actions are part of an intensive campaign involving approximately 300 strikes by Israel on Syrian military installations, including airbases and weapons depots, since the regime change in Syria.

The Israeli government claims these operations are defensive in nature and aim to prevent new strategic threats near its borders. Despite rumors of Israeli tanks advancing toward Damascus, the Israeli military denied such allegations, confirming that its troops remain in defensive positions within the buffer zone.
