Afghanistan shuts down a radio station for broadcasting music

Authorities in Afghanistan's Khost province shut down the private radio station "Zhaman" for broadcasting background music during a morning program, following a decision by the regional office of the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. According to the Afghan Center for Journalism, the closure was decided during a meeting attended by representatives from the ministries of Information, Culture, and Promotion of Virtue. The organization expressed concern over the decision, calling it a clear violation of press freedom, and urged the authorities to allow the station to reopen without conditions.
